This week has been amazing!!! Seriously! First we had zone conference and it was kind of sad because it was my last one, but it was awesome President and Hermana Goates are truly inspired people and have helped me so much on my mission. After the conference Elder Martinez (my last comp) his comp had to do some tests at the doctors so we got permission from president for him to work with us in la favorita and it was awesome! It was super cool being able to work with both of my kids, and see how much elder martinez has grown.

We were  going to visit one family but we decided to take a different route and a member was walking out with his friend adrian and we talked to them for a little bit and we were able to go in and teach adrian right there so we showed the video because he lives and he loved it! So we are super excited for him.
Huge miracle: the familia benitez get married this friday then baptized on saturday!!! We are so excited for them! So yesterday we are all in sacrament meetingand it was one of those awkward testimony meetings where everyone is just sitting there so i got up and shared my testimony, and then sat next to the elders quorum president, and while im talking to him i see two people get up ,and i realize its antonio and jennifer! Mom they bore such sincere and strong testimonies. They didnt use beautiful or elaborate words, they just stood up and said they knew the church was true and talked about the blessings theyve received in their lives. It was so  beautiful, it has been so amazing seeing how much theyve grown, and im excited for them to take these first few steps that will lead them on this path to our heavenly father. I am so grateful for the opportunity i have to see how the Lord truly works miracles everyday! I love this work and i love these people so much!
Please send my love to everyone! I love you so much!

Building Houses and Testimonies

So this week has been a huge week of miracles. So first off jenny and antonio have a date to be married on the 10th of june! That in itself was a huge miracle because jenny went to the courthouse to set up a date but the were like full and she wasnt gonna be able to get married until a little while later, but right in that moment a girl walks in and says shes not gonna be able to get married on the date that she had planned, and wanted to give up her spot, and it just happened to be for the 10th of june, the day right before we have their baptism set up.
Also they have been keeping up with the calendar and are doing super well, they are reading and we taught them the word of wisdom, we taught him and talked about daniel and the blessings he received from keeping the word of wisdom in the bible, and the next day his family tried to get him to drink and he stood firm and said he wouldn’t do it! Then yesterday night we had FHE with the whole ward and they went and had a lot of fun! The members have been so helpful in making them feel welcome. And i was just thinking about how much quicker the work progresses when all of us, members and missionaries work together in this great work! This is the lords work and this is his way of doing it! Im so blessed to be here, i wake up everyday and im just happy because I know we are a part of something so much bigger than us. I love you all so much, and invite you to be attentive to the little opportunities we have everyday to share the gospel! I love you all so much please send my love to everyone!

To Begin Again

This has been a really uplifting week! Elder Texeira from the 70 came and we had an awesome conference with him and his wife, they talked a lot about how it is important that we help the investigators prepare for baptism and he we have to make that known to everyone, that we have been called by a prophet of God to help people make covenants with our Heavenly Father, I learned a lot.

Lately we have been praying super hard for the familia Benitez so we taught them and committed them to be baptized the 11th of June! They talked about how they know they need to take this step because they want a new start , they want to turn a new page and just begin again. So they are getting ready to get married so we are super excited! We even made them a calendar with scriptures and things they can do everyday to continue going strong so that they can be prepared for their baptism! The familia arce is doing well, things are going by so fast i feel like theres never time to do everything i want to do, but just taking everything as it comes!
My comp and I are doing great! Hes awesome! Very humble guy, so i hope we continue to see some great miracles! I hope everyone at home is well! I love you all so much!

Transfers…Saying Good-Bye to Elder Martinez

IMG_0543My new comp is great his name is Elder Simon from Chubut Argentina! Which is cool because for him its like the exact same culture so he doesn’t have too much trouble adjusting. Its weird to think he’s my last comp, but we are working are butts off, the families are doing great!, Rodrigo and his family are doing well, they didn’t come to church but last time we talked to them they were doing really well, Jennifer and Antonio Benitez are doing good, they are trying to get ready to get married but Antonio has been falling back on alcohol, but he’s trying so jennie has asked us to work with him, so its been good because they are friends with like everyone in the ward, which is so key, there is so much more of a difference in the process of conversion when these people know they don’t have to do this alone.

Elder Martinez nat was actually sad saying goodbye to him, i was like nervous because i thought wow did i teach him everything he needs to know, i wanted to be the one to continue to help him, i felt like you mom, i didn’t want to send him off to another area because i was nervous for tough comps or like stuff like that, so it was cool to get a small taste of what that must be like for parents, trusting in the Lord, I and knowing he will take care of them.
Yesterday we had family home evening with the ward and it was awesome! The Benitez went and had a good time, i was just sitting there thinking about how special this ward is, because of the members here, yesterday i asked Hermana Rodriguez (My 2nd mom here) where i could buy the mate cups engraved, because i wanted to buy some for my comps who are still alive, and she went out like super early this morning in the rain and got it done. Literally everyone has offered to give us food, and help, its a ward that has lots of love, so I’m so grateful that i have the opportunity to serve here with them.
I just want you to know mom, how blessed we are, and how much the Lord is taking care of us, I am so grateful for this time i have to serve the Lord, it breaks my heart to think all of this one day will end, but im so grateful for these next few months i have to give everything to the Lord. i love you so much mom, and want to thank you for your example of righteousness, Please send my love to everyone.

To Strengthen Our Foundation

IMG_0208This has been a great week! It has been a little complicated because we had to postpone our activity that we had planned, but the good news is were gonna have it this week! We are gonna have like a cultural fair, with another ward where we are going to have 9 countries and 9 stands representing each country with food from there and stuff like that so it should be super fun! The countries are: Ecuador, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, USA, Brasil and Peru! So we are really excited for that! The familia Benitez is doing well. They have had a lot of work, and family outings so they haven’t really been home, but we’ve been calling them, and they are reading their assignments from the BOM, Antonio has been reading like double, so we have plans to teach them this week! Rodrigo and his family are doing great! He looks a lot better just a lot happier and he told me its because they’re reading and praying as a family. Thats something that really stuck with me this week how doing simple stuff like that really helps us to establish our base in the gospel.

This week we helped some members set the foundation for their house, and part of it is you actually need rocks to put at the base, and it reminded me of when the Newport beach temple was built and they had all of the primary kids write their favorite scriptures and now they are literally in the foundation of the temple, its amazing how even at a young age they taught us that the scriptures truly help us have a firm foundation. It has been bitter cold here, and raining a ton, and lots of wind, and its sad because lots of houses have been knocked down, houses that looked perfectly fine, but when the winds started blowing they just seemed to fall, and that was a good reminder for me to ask personally how strong is our foundation in this gospel? Are we deeply planted in the firm conviction that Jesus is our savior? Or are we just going through the motions?  It has been so sad to see how many less actives there are here and in all my areas, and even in all the world, but one of the most amazing things Ive seen is someone that perhaps wasn’t too sure about their testimony before, and just seemed to drift off, to come back and to see how humbled they are, because its like they’re saying “you know what maybe i wasn’t really converted or planted in this gospel, maybe the storm did knock my house down, but I’m here, and I’m ready to start over, I’m ready to build again, but this time even stronger” And all of that is possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Yesterday in sacrament i was asked to speak on obedience, and i talked about how there are 3 things that we need to truly be obedient to the Lord. Faith, a good attitude, and diligence, I talked a lot about nephi and his example but at the end i talked about the blessings we receive by being obedient, and the biggest one we can receive is the chance to truly know our savior Jesus Christ, because he was the greatest example of obedience. In 1 John chapter 2 it says  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keephis commandments.
And later on it says,
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
The Lord needs us to obedient and he always invites us to do so, I know its not easy, but I know that if we do have a strong foundation we will be okay, I know this gospel is true, I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and I know that His church was restored in these latter days, even now with all of this confusion and apostasy in this world I know Joseph Smith truly was a prophet of God. I hope you know how much I love each and every one of you! Please send my love to everyone!

Courage…what we do with Fear

This week has been amazing, the familia benitez committed to be baptized this month, so we are so stoked!!! Also we are preparing an activity with another ward to do like a culture fest, with a bunch of countries so that should be great! One huge miracle that has happened this week was yesterday, a less active hermano came to church randomly, he has been less active for 6 years and has done all kinds of things, drugs, alcohol you name it he’s done it, but on saturday he was doing drugs with his brother when his brother began to try and kill himself, the hermano just stayed with him the whole night crying, and he realized he needed a change and fast, so he came to church by himself, he has a wife, and 3 little kids, and he told me what happened and began crying, and it made me so sad to see him weeping, but it filled me with so much joy to see how the Lord humbled him so that he would come unto Him. We went last night to with another member to teach him and his family and it went so great, he told us how much he wants to be an example to his family, and we finished the lesson singing I need thee every hour, and the reverence and spirit that was felt there was so strong and powerful it was like being in church. Me and my companion walked out and just hugged, grateful that the Lord was able to put us in the right place at the right time.
This week I was studying a little about courage, and i studied a little about esther amd I love in esther 4:14-17

14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time,then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to theJews from another place; but thou and thy father’s houseshall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou artcome to the kingdom for such a time as this?

15 ¶Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,

16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present inShushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drinkthree days, night or day: also and my maidens will fastlikewise; and so will go in unto the king, which is notaccording to the law: and if perish, perish.

17 So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all thatEsther had commanded him.

Courage does not mean that we will never be afraid, courage is what we do with that fear. We can let it motivate us to trust in the Lord and His will. I love how Mordecai helps Esther understand the consequences of the choices we make, Lets think about the times we are living in now, and about how many decisions we have to make everyday, may we always be wise and courageous in the decisions we make, may we trust in the Lord even when it is so hard, I love this gospel so much, and I hope you know how much I love all of you and how grateful I am you are my family! Thank you so much for your examples! I love you all so much!

Con mucho amor i cariño,
